NBB Launch New Website

Today, Northumbria Blood Bikes launches a new website to the public.  Designed to be more responsive, and mobile friendly, the fresh, new look focuses on attracting new volunteers and raising much needed funds - Commodities this well respected local charity (they hold the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service) depends on to deliver its life-saving (and life-affirming) service to our local hospitals and air ambulance.

Induction Session

A fantastic Induction Session at Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue HQ today. We would like to welcome our 10 new recruits to the NBB family. Have fun, enjoy learning and utilising your new skills and thank you for giving us your support.

FMT Relay: Birmingham MTC to Gateshead Queen Elizabeth Hospital

FMT (Faecal Microbiota Transplant) relay yesterday

Russell from Shropshire • Staffordshire • Cheshire Blood Bikes collected an FMT package from the Major Trauma Centre(MTC) at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital and handed it over to Paul from Whiteknights, Yorkshire Blood Bikes at their Barlborough meeting point.

Paul then headed north and handed over to our volunteer Mick at Scotch Corner who then delivered it to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.

A journey of approximately 213 miles for this vital package.

Why I volunteer - Steve's story

Why I volunteer…

“I heard about the charity through a friend who volunteers for another Blood Bike group in the South West.

We are both keen motorcyclists and are also keen to give to charity. What a great idea to do both. I have always admired volunteers and their dedication to a cause. I joined in March 2024 and became a rider for the first time in the October.

I am a rider and soon to become driver as well. I have just passed my IAM car test required for this further role.

Talk on a boat

Here at Northumbria Blood Bikes we do like an adventure such as delivering a talk on a boat and possibly a first for our charity.

On Wednesday evening our speaker Ian visited Blyth harbour and was welcomed by the lovely folks from the Royal Northumberland Yacht Club. They were very interested and appreciative of what we do.

Thank you to all who were in attendance for their hospitality and generous donation of £133.76.

EGGER Community Fund

We would like to extend our thanks to the staff at EGGER Hexham following their generous donation of £3,000 from their Community Fund programme. We have been fortunate enough to have their continued support of our charity.
